We all know the music business is hard. We know that. But don’t tell that to Wisconsin artist T the Pharaoh.

His path to music has been one of the toughest in the Madison independent scene. Now we aren’t saying this because of his life, upbringings, or past. Take the personal out if and look at it from the business side. This kid has worked so hard to the point of going to college, working a job, interning, and signing to Midwest distribution house Local Traffic Only, only to have to take a break from being an artist and his dreams so that he could earn his degree. There are few artists in rap that we can say especially independently that have taken their desire to be in the music business to the college level.

His new single “Cyber Chase” showcases what he’s been learning and passion to be an artist on a high level. Blasting 808’s come screaming in the beginning of the track, then his smooth melodic voice comes in with the hook. It’s a reminder of Calboy. The song is about getting what you want. About the thrill of chasing your dreams and this song is very reminiscent of what T the Pharaoh has been working on his whole life to create what he’s building now. It’s exciting to see where T the Pharaoh will end up with this but his work ethic and his sound only can elude that we will see him doing major moves in the near future.

OfficialVybe overcomes near-death experience to create music that inspires others

ROCKFORD, IL – Just a few years after being in a coma for 47 days due to open heart surgery, Midwest rapper OfficialVybe has launched himself back on the music scene with a handful of hit singles. His most recent is the motivational track “What I’m Used To,” which launched wide across all streaming platforms earlier this year. It’s a song that announces to the world that he’s back in a major way and that his music today is a more mature and thought-provoking offering than his early work. The upbeat production created by Grammy Award winner Wyshmaster creates a one-of-a-kind experience that is sure to have people up on their feet and motivated to take on the obstacles that so often get in the way of realizing one’s dreams.

OfficialVybe is a rapper who initiated his craft under the guidance of Russell Barbary. He’s worked with Grammy winners such as Matty Trump and Wyshmaster, and has worked hard to develop an international presence so that today his music can be found being played in more than 120 countries worldwide. His sound is different because of his versatility. He does different sounds on different tracks, and he can switch up his voice to make it sound like he’s someone with whom fans aren’t familiar; and then he’ll come back with a sound that everybody likes. He’s constantly keeping his audiences on their toes.

“I want to cater to different types of fanbases,” he said. “The more people I can reach, the better. My voice has changed over the years. It used to be deeper but after my surgery, it changed dramatically. I feel like people can hear me more clearly now, and I’m able to switch things up more often from track to track.”

OfficialVybe said ultimately he wants his music to be known for inspiring others. With “What I’m Used To” for instance, he uses his artistic gift to motivate people to push past their problems and overcome the obstacles in their lives so as to achieve the goals they have before them. He points to his own life and the many challenges he’s pushed aside as an example that if he can do it, anyone else can, too.

“For people who go through serious relationships and end up with a broken heart, my music can help them get over being heartbroken,” he said. “I make a lot of love songs. I make a lot of ambition songs. I make songs that inspire you to go out and get that money. Anything that’s gonna move the crowds, that’s what my music is about. I make music people can relate to. And whatever I make, I want it to affect them in entirely different ways. Mostly, I want people to vibe to my music and to be inspired.”

OfficialVybe said he’s getting ready to shoot a music video for “What I’m Used To,” and then has plans to follow that up with a second single called “Thought It Was Love.”

International artist Kesh Mula drops groovy new single ‘Message to You’

TAMPA, FL – Mix a groovy-talking flow with a mellow and smooth R&B and you get the latest hit single from Florida-based artist Kesh Mula. Known for vibes that are reminiscent of Drake with his singing/rapping combination, this young up-and-coming artist has been making himself known throughout the South for the past few years. He created his own label called Strictly Business Entertainment and uses his platform to work with other local talents – such as producer Mike the Dawn, who produced the new hit single “Message to You”, videographer JMB, who directed the video for the song, amongst others.

The R&B and Hip-Hop mashup of the song creates the perfect foundation for the rapid-fire rapping of Kesh as he bounces his way over the top of some catchy melodies. The song has a nice groove and bounce and shows off this young artist’s signature style in impressive ways.

“It’s a song that was made in a time where I was trying to get back with my ex,” Kesh said. “I had done certain things in our relationship before we broke up that I had to acknowledge that I didn’t take her feelings into consideration. After we broke up, I fell in love with her, real deal. I was trying to find a way to prove that I’m the man she thought I was. My motive was to write her a song. I picked a beat and everything came from my heart and spilled out onto the paper. On Valentine’s Day, I gave it to her, she ended up loving it, but it was too late. Writing my story helped me forgive myself and move on. I realized it was a song that both men and women can relate to, and what better time to release it than Valentine’s weekend?”

Kesh declares that “Message to You” is perfect to showcase his sound and style, which varies from song to song in the way it moves from flows to vibes. And when it comes to the details? He is meticulously choosing everything from the beats to the vocal quality, and not to mention, the energy he brings to create something truly original. And at the end of the day, he hopes his music inspires people to believe in themselves, enjoy life to the fullest and never stop going.

That’s the message behind a second single that’s starting to make the rounds from Kesh. It’s called “There He Go”, and like “Message to You,” it features his combination of singing and rapping. Starting with some high-hats and groovy keyboards, the song showcases an interested syncopated rhythm that starts to illustrate the early days of a boy from a small neighborhood in Miami now becoming a man with goals to win big.

Both songs will be featured on the new album “81305” – a combination of his home cities of Tampa (813) and Miami (305) – which was released in December 2020 on all major platforms. The album is packed with 14 catchy songs that tell the story of who he is as an artist and provide people an experience unlike any other. With Colombian roots, Kesh said he takes pride in his ability to rap and sing in both English and Spanish. With Reggaeton being an immense influence over his musical career, Kesh says he’ll eventually come out with double albums in both languages, mixing in some tropical vibes.

“I want this album to remind people that they are strong enough to overcome anything in life and to enjoy life to the fullest. We go through ups and downs, but the world is full of beautiful things, people and places,” he said. “And don’t get me wrong, I love the flashy lifestyle as much as the next, but my true passion and happiness comes from giving opportunities to people through my label and helping to make the world a better place by promoting love. I want to display those messages through my music to the world.”

Australian artist $uicidal $hadow explores dark side of life with new ‘underground’ sound

ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA – Fans of artists such as $uicideboy$, Pop Smoke City Morgue, and Ghostemane will be ecstatic to learn of a new artist out of Australia who is bringing a new wave of excellence to the Dark Rap genre. $uicidal $hadow is a young 21-year-old artist from Adelaide who has been producing EDM music for the past two years, and over the course of the past few months has evolved into a more dark, underground Rap sound. It’s a style that is showcased on his new single, “This Song is Over Fast,” which is currently available across all streaming platforms.

As the title indicates, the song is short in length – only slightly more than one minute – but it packs a punch in that little amount of time. $uicidal $hadow hits listeners with some dark lyrics that touch on murder, death and drugs, all within 60 seconds. Though it’s a quick hit of his new style, it serves as an introduction to the new kind of music he’s making and paves the way for the singles he wants to release this year.

“I’m constantly making music and will be releasing a single every week this year,” he said. “My inspiration is that underground, alternative type of stuff but with a bit of humor. I like the style and the beats. It’s real catchy for me, and I know it is for a lot of others, too. What I bring that others don’t is that my beats can change up quite easily. Also, I have dark lyric but I can make my voice more light-sounding. I can move from that lighter to darker side quite easily.”

Though his music is dark, his personality is anything but. In fact, most people who know him would say he’s not really a serious kind of person and prefers to be more laid back and have fun with life. He likes to make jokes and often helps others see the humorous side of life. But when he gets in the studio, he’s a dark rapper.

“I just like to explore the darker side of the world through my music,” he said. “I know it’s not the happiest stuff, but bad things happen in this world and this is the personality I’ve developed over the years due to various circumstances – like losing jobs and depression and stuff like that. I know that as life moves on, I’ll probably switch up my style a little and mix it around to see what does best for me. But this is the sound I’m going for right now and I think people who like that kind of music will really love it.”

New York entertainer Redlite offers introspect reflection on the previous year with fifth album in ‘2020 Vision’ installment

WHITE PLAINS, NY – Everyone has a gift. When you find that gift, you either use it or you don’t. Joe Young has a gift of music and at age 37, he’s finally found a way to use it to entertain the world as the artist known as Redlite. Over the course of 2020, he released five albums called “2020 Vision,” the most recent of which was dropped on Christmas day. It’s a project that he calls the culmination of a lot of hard work over the past three years since he chose to pursue music as a full-time career. It’s also a project that reflects on one of the hardest years in recent memory, with stories and introspective looks at some of the situations Americans found themselves in at various times during the year.

“My music is very diverse,” Redlite said. “I have such a variety of songs that make me a unique artist. I have street songs with street bars. I have relationships songs. I have breakup songs. I have venting-about-my-life songs. I have sex songs. I have tough songs and softer songs for the ladies. Every album I do is just a bag of mixed nuts because I don’t ever want to be so repetitive that every song starts to feel the same. That’s a little boring. This album is no different – it’s a variety of different things that I think will keep people interested.”

Redlite said he’s become known over the past three years as an artist who is all about lyrics and punchlines. Growing up with 90s Hip Hop and R&B, as well as the “New York hard lyricism,” Redlite said he quickly learned how to fuse different genres. He might take a bedroom song and turn it into a Rap or a hardcore street vibe and give it an R&B edge. He’s also an imposing physical feature – 6-feet-4-inches tall and heavily muscled (he used to be a bouncer). Taking all those things combined, it’s apparent that he has a unique look and a unique sound.

That signature sound is put on full display with the debut single from his most recent album, “Reddy or Not…” It’s a song that features female vocalist Tyka who brings a vibe that’s reminiscent of Lauryn Hill and The Fugees. Redlite calls the song a “little more hood – almost like drive-by music.”

“It’s pretty catchy,” he said. “People listen to it and say it’s pretty good. It’s definitely a little more gangster, but ultimately it’s about bringing my whole light to life. I’ve been wasting my talent for so many years and hadn’t been in the studio for a long time. Now is my time. I’m ready. And I think I’ve had more and more growth as time has gone on. This is what I feel like I’m born to do. With this diverse music I put out, if something connects more with people then I’ll make more of that. I want to give the listeners what they want to hear.”

J Cutta uses hype energy of NBA All Star to power his new single ‘Mutombo’

ATLANTA, GA – During the 1990s and early 2000s, there was one NBA player who dominated on defense. Hailing from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Dikembe Mutombo was a force in the paint. Known for his signature phrase “Not in my house,” this 7-foot-2 warrior was best known for his shot-blocking skills. He’d swat away a shot and stuff a jam and then stand over his opponent, wagging his long index finger in their face.

As a young boy growing up in Atlanta watching the professional NBA team The Hawks, Joshua Opoku got to watch Mutombo play a lot of games. To this day, he remembers the smile that would always come across his face when he’d watch Mutombo swat away a shot and say his signature phrase. And today as Opoku works to expand his career as a recording artist, he uses a lot of that energy to push his music forward. Operating under the stage name J Cutta, he’s released his latest song as an homage to the hall of fame NBA star with the single “Mutombo.”

“It’s high energy,” J Cutta said. “It’s a run song – one of those songs that you can work out with at the gym. I wanted to do a high energy song and a tribute, in a sense, at the same time. Mutombo had such a cool catch phrase and I thought it would be cool to incorporate that into the song. It’s just a fun, high-energy song with a catchy hook that includes that catchphrase. It’s definitely a riding song that gets you ramped up.”

J Cutta is a new, innovated face in Hip Hop. A student of music since he was a child, he grew up in Atlanta and embraced the influence of artists such as Nas and Outkast to help mold his creative expression. He’s become known as a lyrical painter who has an ability to transport listeners to a different time and place through his music. People recognize the truth he brings to his music, relating experiences from his own life to share with others.

“I’ve been a fan of music since elementary school and spent a lot of time listening to music to learn how to write my own material,” he said. “I used to listen to songs on the radio and try to write my own lyrics. I thought the way Nas and Outkast put words with a soulful track was art. Being from Atlanta, a lot of people expect to hear 100 percent Trap music. You might hear a little bit of that from me but overall, I’ve got a sound that’s more R&B type of a vibe with Rap fused in. Other songs I do might be more closely related to Drake’s sound or a Cali type of vibe. There are different bits and pieces to my music, and when you hear it, I hope you feel an emotional attachment to it. I hope 10 years from now if you go back and listen to one of my songs, it takes you back to that moment in time and you can remember what you were doing then – it sparks a flashback, nostalgic feeling. With my music, I’m always bringing back some type of memory that’s engraved or tattooed on you.”

J Cutta said he’s working on a bigger project that he plans to release later this year called “Dreams Don’t Die.” Another single, “Fall Thru,” is slated to drop before the summer as a follow-up to “Mutombo” which is currently available across all streaming platforms.

Texas-based artist Zanu starts journey toward becoming greatest showman with new album ‘MackingAintDead’

HOUSTON, TX – You can get a lot more out of what you want in life if you know how to mack. That’s the sentiment behind the new album “MackingAintDead” from Texas-based artist Zanu. The Hip Hop project with heavy influences of R&B and Afrobeats is the culmination of two years’ worth of work from this up-and-coming young artist. At only age 22 he’s starting to garner attention throughout the South, and with this new album, is primed to leave his mark on the national stage.

“I want to be more than just an artist and entertainer,” he said. “I want to be the greatest showman there is. I want to redefine what an emcee is in modern day Hip Hop. I want to put on the greatest show the world has ever seen. I came from a lineage that knew nothing but excellence. My granddad came from the villages of Ghana and became a diplomat. My mom is a doctor and my pop is a businessman. My older sister is out here making moves with her life, just like me. I’ve trained in music for more than 10 years and I believe I got what it takes to be the best – to be one of those larger-than-life-artists. This is an album from a winner’s perspective. It’s an album about being the best in the room – the king. You want to learn how to win? Listen to the man born winning. Listen to the man born macking. Because “Mackingaintdead” man. My music comes from the perspective of unapologetic royalty, excellence, and bravado. I’m changing the world and I’ll look good as hell while doing it.”

Zanu said he started his journey as a musician when at the age of 7 he began learning how to play the piano. At age 8, he started dancing and by age 11, he was rapping and writing his own music. He grew up listening to Hip Hop and R&B, as well as Afrobeats – all of which find their way into his music in one way or another. This is especially true of his album’s debut single, “Heathens,” which already has more than 15,000 streams since its release less than two months ago.

“It’s a fun vibe that my producer friend helped out with by adding some bells and high hats,” Zanu said. “We made it three years ago and I sat on it because I didn’t have the right lyrics for it. Then I was chilling one day and having fun and just started rapping. I was calling my friends heathens because we’re out here trying to get shit done and looking good doing it. We were always getting paid because we’re always on top of our shit. Girls want to be with a boss – with a heathen. You can be a boss without trying to be the hardest in the room. I don’t want to be the token black guy in the crowd. I’m running just as good as anyone else, or even better. All of that came together on this song.”

LONG BEACH, CA – Yungg Fattz is an international artist from Long Beach, California whose original new sound is lighting up the world thanks to four new singles currently available across all streaming platforms.

The consummate performer, Yungg Fattz has made a name for himself both on the West Coast and throughout the Mountain Region as one of the premier entertainers of our day. He’s been doing shows from Denver to Vegas to Los Angeles, and he takes pride in making the crowd rock. But with 2020 putting a damper on all live performances, Yungg Fattz turned his attention to the recording studio. His four new singles are the result of a lot of hard work.

“If I’m not gonna perform, I’m gonna put out as much new music as I can,” he said. “When I can hit the stage again, I’ll have all new music for people to listen to. And my sound is different than most other rappers out there today. I like to do songs with someone singing the chorus. I don’t want to be just another gangsta rapper from Long Beach. I want to change how California artists are seen.”

The first of Yungg Fattz’s four singles is “I Do Me” featuring KC producer and artist Boi Blakc. It’s a song that lets the world know they’re listening to a true professional in the music business. Not only is he an entertainer but he’s a tour promoter, as well. He is deeply involved in his own management and marketing and is one of the members of Smoked Out Entertainment. He also hosts a traveling event called Barzfest which has seen him perform in multiple cities all over the U.S. “I Do Me” is a song that highlights all of those endeavors in a friendly and fun way for the listener.

“By My Side” is a love song that Yungg Fattz recently released. He said it’s something he created specifically for the ladies, though he knows that a lot of guys out there will also love it. First recorded a few years back, the single is one that he revised and re-released this year to much acclaim. The streams he’s seen on that single alone have taken his notoriety to the next level and showcase his adept ability to fuse styles together, such as Hip Hop and Neo-Soul.

Another single currently available across all streaming platforms is “Stay Dangerous” which Yungg Fattz calls his “Long Beach anthem.” Inspired by Nipsy Hussle’s saying “they don’t say stay safe anymore, they say stay dangerous,” Yungg Fattz takes the idea and creates a fun homage to his hometown in a way that motivates anyone listening to be adventurous and take a leap of faith in whatever opportunities might be before them.

Finally, Yungg Fattz has released “I’m Yours” which also features Boi Blakc and is another love song, though with a little bit of a different vibe than “By My Side.” Of the four singles that he’s released this year, Yungg Fattz said “I’m Yours” is the one that has the most potential to leap onto the global stage, thanks to its catchy hook and groovy vibe.

Following the success of these singles, Yungg Fattz said he’s planning to launch yet another single called “Designer”. He also has more music planned to release in 2021 with hopes to eventually be touring and performing live again in the summer.
