Commenting on an artist music is not something that I usually do ... I have people who do that. However, I do make the decisions on whether we will go forward or pass. Hip-hop and rap are no different that any other genre: lyrics, beat and delivery. I know what I see people respond to and what is interesting to me. I know music!
When I hear good music, I know it! Much of hip-hop and rap sounds alike. That is not bad because if you can duplicate a hit ... you may get a free ride. Otherwise, if you have a common sound, you will need money and a good management team to get you to where you are wanting to be.
Do you have a fan base? If not, get out there and build one.
Your publicist has done a great job representing who you are. You may want top get involved in an Artist Development Program that will help you discover your unique style, delivery, and type of song that speaks to your experiences and what you want to deliver to the public.
Hang in there ... you are just as good as anyone else out there. That is the unique thing about this business ... the right circumstances can happen at any time ... and you can be catapulted into the stardom that you have never imagined. I think that your dreams will be realized when you discover your uniqueness. Good Luck!
