Justin Bieber came clean about the bad behavior that's marred his recent career in a video posted to Facebook following an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. "I didn't want to come off arrogant or conceited, or basically how I've been acting the past year, year and a half," Bieber confessed in the clip. "I'm not who I was pretending to be."

As the pop star pointed out, his brief interview on Ellen marked his first official TV appearance in a long time, and he admitted on Facebook he was feeling "really nervous" about how he would be perceived.
"[O]ften we pretend to be something we’re not as a cover up of what we’re truly feeling inside," Bieber continued. "And there was a lot of feelings going on in there. Just being young and growing up in this business is hard. Just growing up in general is hard."
"I think it's cool to laugh at yourself — I've done some things that might not have been the greatest," Bieber said, before DeGeneres jumped in: "Really? Nothing comes to mind, I don't know what you're talking about." After a laugh, Bieber added, "I just want to be able to laugh about it, and just kind of own up to some of these things."
In the Facebook video, Bieber reiterated this sentiment, insisting he no longer wanted to be the kind of person who doesn't care about anything or anyone. "And although what’s happened in the past has happened, I just want to make the best impression on people and be kind and loving and gentle and soft," Bieber said. "And although people can call me a 'softie,' that’s how my mom raised me."
The past few years have been rocky for the pop star, who was caught doing everything from underage drinking and drag racing to egging his neighbor's house and peeing in a restaurant mop bucket. He also abandoned a monkey in Germany. For a primer on the "Baby" singer's history of bad behavior, check out Rolling Stone's cover story from last year on Bieber's out-of-control lifestyle.
