Phyllis Talley was born and raised in Monroe, Louisiana. After moving to Seattle, WA in 1976, she joined Shilo Missionary Baptist Church where she began singing at age twelve. She went on to become lead singer in Garfield High School stage band under the direction of Clarence Acox. Even after she had graduated from Garfield, Mr. Acox called Phyllis to come back the following year to open the second night for Quincy Jones’s 50th birthday concert at the Seattle Center Arena. She wowed the audience to a standing ovation with her rendition of "Home" from the soundtrack of "The Wiz".
Phyllis has performed and open up for famous recording artists such as James Brown, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, Martha Hye, Perrie Sisters, David Hollister, Tyrone Yashimoto, Maya Angelou, Bill Summers & Summers Heat and many more!
Phyllis had been a significant force in local R&B bands including Contents Under pressure, Mixed Emotions, Top Flight, Firelight, Slow Tease, Klass, Force Major, 10 Good Men, Shades, Sisters in Song and most recently Triple Treat which she put together herself.
Phyllis’s voice will touch the very core of your being with her sultry, smoky, soulful sound. The influence of her early roots in gospel will take you to a place that literally moves you and leaves you wanting more.
Get ready for the ride of your life when in a room with this powerful, outstanding songstress. You are guaranteed to have a full night of total entertainment!
