[WOW] Calif. student arrested for threatening to shoot, stab school staff @CBSNews

YUCCA VALLEY, Calif. -- A student at California high school has been arrested for threatening to shoot and stab staff members, law enforcement officials said Thursday.

Matthew Ross, 18, was arrested Wednesday afternoon at Black Rock High School in Yucca Valley, CBS Los Angeles reported.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department was notified earlier that day by school officials that Ross "threatened to shoot, stab, and assault staff members" on Tuesday.

After serving a search warrant at the suspect's home, detectives found firearms, hundreds of rounds of rifle and shotgun ammunition, hunting knives, swords, hatchets and crossbows, Deputy Shaunna Ables said.

Ross told deputies he wasn't getting respect from teachers, Ables said.

Ross was booked at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on charges of making criminal threats. He was being held on $50,000 bail ahead of an arraignment Friday.

Yucca Valley is a town with about 20,000 residents in the Mojave Desert about 110 miles east of Los Angeles.
