Uh oh......I think this is gonna cause controversy. But then again, i'm sure Jamaicans are gonna have their say-so as well. There are records from the late 60's & 70's that had Jamaican DJs (called MCs in the U.S.) who "toasted" over dub tunes, which later evolved into what is now known as Dancehall.
