Day 1 of March Madness, How'd Your Picks compare To Jo's?

Well for me Day 1 of March Madness went as expected. Every year I have a phenomenal 1st day, it’s day 2 where my bracket usually goes to hell. Today I only missed 3 games and they weren’t major upsets. A few good teams lost to a few teams that were a little bit better.

First off I was wrong about Mississippi State, over Washington. Unlike a lot of other people I had Miss. St. losing in round 2 to Purdue, where as the experts had them damn near upsetting UConn. So in the words of Martin, “Man Please”. I know they started off hot but Miss. St. ended the regular season pretty sadly going 7-6 in their last 13 games. It was hard to pick against them though, because they had won 6 in a row, with 3 of those teams being tourney teams. But I felt like they were too inconsistent to get to the third round, looks like I was a little off. They weren’t consistent enough to get to the second.

My second miss came at the hands of Clemson vs. Michigan. This game was a hit or miss with me, neither tem to me was really that good and I damn near flipped a coin, but ultimately chose Clemson. My rationale… I hate Michigan. Don’t forget folks I’m a Buckeye and I haven’t feared Michigan Basketball since the Fab. 5, “Timeout!” Just had to do it. And the Wolverines don’t like me either, which is why they took it to Clemson, but it’s all-good because I have the Sooners winning the next round anyway, so the damage to my bracket is minimum.

However that win is my second loss in that region. Damn, damn, DAAAAMN! Western Kentucky over Illinois. Now on this game I pretty much thought it was a sure thing, but oh no I forgot this isn’t Deron Williams, Hakeem Warrick, and Dee Brown’s team. And it cost me, thanks a lot Illini. Hmmm, now that I think about it that was 2005 the year the Tarheels won yet another one.

If you use thought logically you should have had a pretty good day too. Now Day 2 will be another story. I have my eyes on Arizona St., Missouri, and Marquette. Hopefully Utah will have my back along with West Virginia (sorry hometown Dayton Flyers), Boston College, and Tennessee. The rest should be obvious. Good luck to you on day 2 and may the force be with you.
