How To Fill Out Your March Madness Bracket Without Pulling Out Your Hair

Let’s talk tournament Brackets people. Now with 64 teams involved, I never claimed to be the know it all, that can pick every game in every round perfect. I do however believe in rationale and good old fashion logical thinking. I know there are rules to picking your bracket wins, but this year I’ve personally decided to go against the grain.

They (the supposed experts) say you should always pick an upset. There’s 32 games in the first round how in God’s name do you figure out what top ranked team will choke, and what bottom feeder will either get lucky or just play all out balls to the wall. My answer to this is if it’s not an obvious good team that just happens to be ranked low then go with the favorite.

My attitude this year, with there being no clear dominant team, is to pick the best team in each game and let the rest unfold. For example, I hear all this Kansas losing in the first round talk, but do you really think the Jayhawks are going to choke against North Dakota State? Though at times March madness seems like a Hollywood production let’s be real, it’s not.

Another huge rule the experts have put out there is to never put all the number 1 teams in the final four. History has shown this to be true, but in sports how many times has the unimaginable happened, plenty of times that I can remember. Remember the Bulls 3-peating twice, or George Foreman winning the heavyweight title, or a white man named Rocky knocking out Apollo Creed. My bad that one was a movie, but don’t front as kids it seemed so real.

My point is, just because it’s never happened doesn’t mean it can’t or won’t happen. President Obama has proven that, and with that I did the unthinkable. I have all four number 1 teams in the final four. I thought I was crazy until I saw Doug Gottlieb and Dicky V. do the same thing, not bad company to be in if I say so myself.. I tried to find an upset in there, but I couldn’t, even with some of them not being as strong down the stretch as they were early on in the season.

I believe UConn will get it together especially in their region. Louisville looks great and also has a favorable region. Pitt has dominated all year until the Big East Tournament, and after they beat Duke they’re going to be on such an emotional high it’s scary. Finally the Tarheels, who if they get Ty Lawson back their biggest test, will be either Syracuse, or Blake Griffin and the Sooners.

No matter how you look at it, this may be the hardest bracket of all to figure out. I‘ll end with this little bit of advice, read carefully. Use common sense and go with your first instinct. Even if you miss 1 or 2 games the question is did you pick the right team to win it all. Just for the hell of it we’ll throw in how accurate was your final four. If you get those two things pretty close you should clean up in your office pool or whatever your playing in, so good luck and happy hunting.
