With the support of the West Coast behind him, South Central LA-bred Kenny Kingpin is dominating the rap game with a new project, new focus and new fire. Generating verbal documentaries and detailed storytelling with a swift ability to paint mental pictures via his articulate and seamless vocabulary, the newest left coast rider introduces a new layer of his seasoned success. “I had a brief vacation at a time I felt like I was at the top of my game. I did a lot of groundwork out here with the best of the best, and I’m back, seasoned to perfection. Let’s work,” says Kenny Kingpin.

In 1990, Kenny Kingpin released his first effort titled “Notes of a Native Son,” under the alias “Laquan” on Island Records. The album produced the hit single “Now the B-Turn” featuring Ricky Bell of Bell Div DeVoe, reaching number 48 on the Billboard charts. The song’s success soon landed him a deal with Rap-A-Lot Records (West) where he would release his second album entitled “Your Entertainment, My Reality.” This time around, he used the alias “Poppa L.Q.” hitting the top 100 on the Billboard charts for his song “Why Hate Me.”

Maintaining his position in the industry, he soon teamed up with Luniz member and Bay Area rap boss, Yukmouth, forming their own rap commission dubbed “The Regime,” with members Dru Down, Gonzone and Tech N9ne. With a musical announcement turned street anthem, Kenny Kingpin, Mad Max and Phat Bossi released “Killaz on Payroll,” a hit that took northern and southern California by storm.

The “rapologist” continued to expand his musical reach by teaming up with Portland, Oregon veteran rapper Cool Nuts and super producer Bosko. In the midst of his singles’ success, the trio simultaneously created the group D.B.A. (Doing Business As), releasing another hit “Harsh Game for the People.” Their instant buzz lead to the group signing a deal with Universal Records and subsequently releasing “The Album.” West artists including E-40, Kurupt, Ras Kass, WC and AMG all appeared on the project. The streets buzzed, the radio spins peaked, music adrenalin soared and without warning, it all came to a halt. The rapper known as Laquan and Poppa L.Q. was sent to the federal penitentiary for 36 months, marking a turning point in his life.

Now verbally armed and ready to blast off into the Hip-Hop atmosphere, the infamous rapper was released from prison and tagged Kenny Kingpin by the Ambassador of the Bay Area, E-40. Sharper, polished and incredibly relentless, he released the well-received mixtape titled “Rubber Band Ready,” executively produced by Scarface, in 2013. The project featured his hit single “Back Seat Porno” which garnered a feature on XXLmag.com for XXL Banger of the Day and a placement on allhiphop.com along with his remix “Let the Streets Tell It,” featuring French Montana and Maino.  He went on to release the street bangers “Not What Rap Built” and “Tric Sumthin” featuring Kym Cartel and the remix starring Clyde Carson.

The West Coast rap genius kicked off 2014 with the crazy pre-summer hit “HOPE” (Hoes Offer Pussy to Everybody) produced by Chuck Heat (Scarface, Ray J) and dropped the street single “Champagne and Lobster,” available exclusively on www.KennyKingpin.com. He returned to the scene in 2015 with the hit singles “Brakes” and “Askin Ya’ll For Nothin” featuring Scarface and Don Menace, off of his highly anticipated upcoming EP titled “Better Than Dope Money.” “I’m taking time to let my demographic get familiar with my music while I develop myself as an artist. I want them to know I’m into the production, writing…the whole image. I’m not in a rush to become famous…I just want to put out good music,” notes Kenny Kingpin.

The multi-faceted businessman is the CEO of Rubberband Ready Entertainment, which recently joined forces with Scarface’s FACEMOB Entertainment. Kenny is also the founder of Ready Gang Streetwear, featuring a new line titled “The Alpha Boss.”  Look out for The Ready Gang mixtape coming soon featuring Kenny along with his Partners Will Fury and Don Menace.
