In a time when it seems hip-hop is terminally ill, standing alone in a sea of sameness, Hunt is clean cut and professional in his demeanor as well as his music and one of the few artists helping put the genre in remission. Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio Hunt has been writing since adolescence. He moved to Atlanta in 2002 where he had the opportunity to perform at venues like the Royal Peacock Club, Club Crucial, and the College Tour. Hunt has also been featured on mix tapes with Atlanta DJ’s Emperor Searcy and Scorpio and has had his music played in Atlanta on 107.9 FM, 103.3 FM and 105.7FM and Dayton’s Hot 102.9FM.
It’s evident that Hunt’s influences include Jay-Z, LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane and Das EFX. Industry professionals have said that Hunt’s stage presence reminds them of Jay-Z, that he has an aura about him and that you can close your eyes and get a clear visual of his lyrics.
Working closely with producer Thomas Brown (Darkchild Studios) on this 5 track comilation, the beats he’s chosen are dynamic pulling from him the stories of his life. Well thought out verses and soaring hooks paint a picture as the listener closes their eyes. “Til The End” is the never give up anthem that’s been played on Atlanta’s 105.7FM and Dayton’s Hot 102.9FM. Hunt has been on his grind for years and the “Breaks over, game face poker, cat's been sleepin' on me, wake up Folgers. Dreamed of a day to change that perception, embedded in your brain, DiCaprio Inception, a line from the song makes it apparent just how much his naysayers and determination have pushed him. “Breakaway” is for the middle school/high school set….there’s a roadblock ahead you can’t endure, he’s drunk, he’s driving, hit a car. Suburban. Got hit with a dui…scholarship, good-bye… Some of these songs are exactly what you’re NOT expecting from a rapper and “Wedding Day” is no exceptionit’s times like this that had me thinkin us forever, but did I have your heart ever? You don’t love me you love the thought of being to your family. I apologize, but you I can’t marry. Hunt also tackles topics like abortion, misplaced anger, sexual abuse and hanging out in the club.
You can catch Hunt performing live in Atlanta at places like Throwbacks, dadada and blah, blah, bla. New videos coming to YouTube and tour schedule TBA.
