TrOyMaN Bio

Troy Curry AKA TrOyMaN was born and raised in the Bay Area of California a hip hop breeding ground to such hip hop icons as E-40, Too-Short, Digital Underground, and the late great Tupac Shakur one of Troyman’s key musical influences.

TrOyMaN began displaying signs of what many in the music industry refer to as “The IT Factor” at a very young age and by the time he was in his early teens TrOyMaN had already began following in the footsteps of the hip hop greats that came before him and preparing himself for hip hop greatness.

As fate would have it TrOyMaN relocated to Lawrenceville, Georgia a few years ago and within a very short period of time he caught the attention of his older cousin EMME Group Inc. President/CEO Tonya Bowers who immediately recognized TrOyMaN’s undeniable talents and began working to further develop and cultivate the hip hop seed that had been planted in TrOyMaN at birth.

The term “Triple Threat” is often used to describe TrOyMaN because of his capabilities not only as a recording artist but as a writer/producer as well. Being a “Triple Threat” at such a young age is definitely going to place him well ahead of the game. His style is youthful and radio friendly but still hard enough to let true hip hop fans know that he can rumble with the best of them. With a style that can be appreciated by hip hop heads and parents alike TrOyMaN is sure to reign at the top of the charts for many years to come. While it is truly an injustice to compare TrOyMaN to anyone, the comparisons to everyone from Will Smith to the late Tupac Shakur are definitely well deserved.

In the summer of 2008 TrOyMaN released his self-produced mix CD to spectacular reviews. This self-produced mix CD found him collaborating with such hip hop icons as E-40 and Tupac Shakur in a way that blew the minds of hip hop heads from the dirty south to the west coast. His follow up “XPECT THE UNXPECTED” is a hip hop masterpiece that hasn’t been witnessed on the mix tape circuit since artists like Game and Eminem burst on the scene.

A few of TrOyMaN’s early accolades include being crowned the winner in MTV’s 2009 Rock Your Fashion Campaign, being crowned 1st place winner in the 2009 Uplifting Minds Talent Competition, being selected as the winner in Atlanta’s Best Independent Hip Hop Artist competition, being selected as a 1st place winner on BET’s 106th & Park Wild Out Wednesdays, being chosen as one of ten finalists known as the New Alumni for the IME Recordings Hip Hop Evolution compilation CD and television project which has been endorsed by legendary hip hop icon “DMC” of Run DMC fame, and being chosen by Ruff Ryder Films President, Tariq Alexander, to appear in an upcoming Ruff Ryder movie/reality TV show.

TrOyMaN’s first official music video for the single “Anything” has become a YouTube favorite that currently boast over 80,000 plays since being uploaded and on September 13th, 2010 TrOyMaN released a special tribute record and video “Letter 2 Pac 2010” that began creating a major buzz and gaining rave online reviews within hours of its release. TrOyMaN’s film credits as an actor include the films “LAYING MY PAST TO REST” and “MY BROTHER’S KEEPER” both of which he also contributed music to the soundtracks. He also contributed a song to the soundtrack for the independent film “FAMILY, FAITH, AND MONEY” and the soon to be released film “KING OF THE AVENUE” Starring Ving Rhames.

Currently in the studio working on material for his much anticipated EMME Recordings debut, TrOyMaN says “Hip Hop is evolving and it means everything to me to have the opportunity to make my mark as one of the major contributors to a genre of music that has the power to affect a positive change in young people worldwide.” If the saying is true that real artists are born and not created TrOyMaN is definitely poised to become one of the greatest hip hop artist of his generation.
