Rome is Burning- CHACHILLIE
While CHACHILLIE's "Rome is burning" feels like a party song with a catchy hook, a close listen exposes all the ways that we can be distracted, blinded and dis-empowered from an active, responsible role in our world. It is not quite a political or religious song, but points in many directions from Facebook, to celebrities, to political leaders and shows how the direction the world is headed is not right. The hope he offers for the future is not in violence or separation but in unity and awareness "change the way you are thinking, that's the rebel movement, your spirit starts awakening, that's the revolution".
The video achieves a similar combination of responses. At 1st it looks like it could be a song about girls, about being in the club, about having money. In reality it is anything but that. The video's producer, Todd Wolfe, added yet another layer of meaning by telling the story of a 1st time stripper who does not want that for her life, clearly feels trapped, and runs to the church seeking salvation. It is a big production, top quality all the way through. Todd is also the producer for CHACHILLIE's EPK documentary and for the new movie "the streets" featuring Meek Mill premiering tonight on BET. In that EPK interview CHACHILLIE says about the song "the concept is to not be blind to what other people are dealing with and to not be numb to it... Especially if you can do something about it... if you are in a position where you can help... how could you not?"
