As I patiently wait in the Las Vegas airport to fly home its not the bright lights, slot machines, and immaculate landscaping that intrigues me and keeps me smiling. I actually spent my weekend at the Core DJs Retreat/Music Conference with about 5-600 other people, sheeeesh it might have been more then that. If you are an artist, DJ, or aphilated with anytpe of music or entertainment business this is an event that you don’t wanna miss. They usually come around every 6 months and for 3 days events range from listening parties and performances to power panels on branding and marketing to consulting with top executives and label rep’s. This is absolutely the best networking opportunity on the planet for an artist to get their music to most influential DJs in this business. Tony Neal is not only the mastermind behind his big event but also is the founder of the Core DJs, don’t get it twisted for one second though this man has a power house team behind him that gets it done by any means necessary (Janie Jennings and Donata Davis) just to name a few…. What most artists tend to think is that major labels will come searching for them or that they can simply go and knock on their doors and receive millions of dollars and distribution deals. Sounds funny but its true. Being an artist myself I urge every single artist that has never experienced a Music Conference to get on the bus and make that happen. Panelists consist of A&R reps, VPs & Program Director’s from radio stations along with Recording Artist & DJs…. Basically very well respected people in the industry. There gonna tell you everything you need to know and how to prepare yourself for what it is that you think you want. It’s more than just hitting the studio and pressing up a mixtape or an album and selling them on the corner because that’s not even the half of it. So in closing I would like to give special thanks to people like Tony Neal (Core DJs), TJ Chapmen (TJsDJs), Wendy Day and all of the people who have a passion for there craft and helping artist like myself find the right way. If you haven’t already please attend the next Music Conference whether it be The Core DJs, TJsDJs, Texas Summer, GO DJs, Definition DJs…. Etc… get some info on it and get there trust me!
