Remember ARISTA .. They had a structure of EVERYONE working for ONE common goal witch was BUILDING A BRAND ... ARISTA.

Let me ask u a question .. When do we go back to a DJ being a fuckin DJ .. A&R being an A&R, a STREET TEAM being what it was . STREET TEAM (meaning INTERNET SAVY now) ...

We are ALL over the place. Who at the label is content with branding the LABEL? We have labels that are KNOWN for what they do & are NOT PRODUCING at all because EVERYONE has their OWN AGENDA.

POP labels & employees still get it.

They stay in their LANES, work in their cubicles, leave the HOLLYWOOD SHADES OFF, not trying to be the gotdamn artist too & and do what they NEED to do to make the BUSINESS SUCCESSFUL.

I know some people are probably thinkin', "damn, ya'll still commenting on this?!!!" Yep!! We are. This, I think, is probably one of the single most important issues facing Hip Hop today. All of these so called "Power 30" cats (SEE THE RECENT SOURCE) need to remember the philosophies that got them where are now. I won't get in to it too much, but pay attention to the new "classifications" that are coming out. Back packer, hipster, emo rap!!! Emo rap? What the hell is Emo rap? Now understand "emo" is short for emotional or emotion. Should every lyric an MC write have some sort of emotion behind it? Stupid. The more people take it and start to break the rules of the game, the block, or whatever you want to call it, the more the Hip Hop culture fades away. Just like my man said about how accessible rap has become the entire culture has become to accessible. Keep your third eye open and a bottle of Visine on deck. Mess around and it will all be gone.

That is dead on, I appreciate the way you discussed the old labels situations compared to todays. I would say in my opinion that on of the major problems is now that everyone can buy a microphone computer and record music they all feel they are the best and wont listen to constructive critism or if they have a myspace page with alot of friends and do some local shows they feel like they have made it. I have a motto with 1 hundred ent that when you make your music do you believe this record can compete with Jays, Nas, Nelly, 50's or Lil Waynes new song cause if you don't think so then go back and make it better. "Do you mind if i send this to my network I think they will really be interested in this info"

I'm in total agreement brother. Part of the problem is the respect level. Are community lacks it. Name me a community outside of ours that puts artist in the old school category? You can't name another race that does that and you wonder why a Flavor Flav is reduced to being a buffoon just to get paid. Public Enemy right now couldn't get an album played on prime time radio right now because of our peoples lack of respect. It's up to the real DJ's with real ears to step up and play the music that's going to move our people. How do you have rival radio stations when they play the exact play list? I grew up in an era where if Red Alert is playing Boogie Down Productions, Marly Marl would be playing something totally different. I turn on the radio and sometimes can't tell what station I'm listening too because everybodies playing the same crap. Tony keep up the good work and keep the information going.

If ur homeboy/cuzzin/uncle/whatever somehow slides his way into a record company and gets a position, u are now the head of A&R. Every clown that gets on TV, whether it's good or bad is now a celebrity. God used to make singers... Now Auto-Tune does... And we ask why people don't buy records...LOL! Somebody answer this... What makes the DJ the coolest nigga in the club? His mix or his mixtape? I remember the days of "Send the DJ a drink cuz he is cutting this bitch clean up!" Does anybody else? It is what it is... The DJ is and prolly always will be the key to new music. It takes a big effort from all of us govern what that new music is... This is a business. U ain't really gonna stop a nigga from playing what is considered "HOT" whether its garbage or not... but we all can come together and take a stand on not allowing garbage to get hot...
