For the last 6 years Detroit Basketball has been one of the most successful franchises in all of sports. They went to the finals 2 years in a row, and to the conference finals 6 years in a row. They dominated the eastern conference during the stretch and were with out a doubt the team to beat in the east. They were the team that other franchises in the eastern conference built their teams to beat.

When they had the firm of Wallace and Wallace (Ben Wallace and Rasheed Wallace) teams went out and tried to get stronger in the frontcourt. Orlando, after being swept in the first round during the 2002-2003 season, eventually part ways with Tracy McGrady and went out and drafted Dwight Howard. Miami went out and made a deal for Shaq, which gave the Heat a title.
