NEW MUSIC: O DA ADDIC NEW NEW YORKER
“New New Yorker”
Given New York’s stature as the birthplace of Hip-Hop, it’s only
fitting that every now and again any up-n-coming, NYC-bred emcee take a
break from the glitter and gold to pay homage to the Empire State. “New
New Yorker” certainly scratches the surface. Backed by a haunting synth
and a stingy drumbeat provided by the THEHOOKMASTERS, O DA ADDIC marks
his territory with gritty lines that speak to the rough, urban
trajectory his hometown is noted for: “Got little kids stunting in a
Benz in New York/Got more enemies than friends in New York/It’s a stick
up/Watch what you spin in New York.” If that isn’t real enough, you
don’t know what is.
