Lovin’ You Direct is the new album from UK vocalist Richard Alexander Davis! A cousin of reggae star Sugar Minott, Davis has had quite a storied career, from winning prestigious competitions like Melody Maker Battle Of The Bands and ITV music competitions with his band Mixed Breed at the age of fifteen, to scoring dance chart hits like Don’t Stop Believing and Party On while signed with Hysteria Records in the 90’s.
He has also worked with a variety of artists including XTC, Tears For Fears, The JALN Band, Tom Robinson, Nick Straker, Wilko Johnson, Eddy Grant, The Night Crawlers, Omar and Rick Clarke.
On Lovin You Direct, Richard gets together with former Odyssey multi-instrumentalist Tim Jones to pen two original tracks, Back In Love & You’ve Changed. The rest of the album features their modern, future classic take, on tracks originally performed by Jeffrey Osborne, James Ingram, D Train, Anita Baker, Freddie Jackson, Booker Newberry, Sherrick, Glenn Jones, The Fatback Band and Gene Rice.
