Together We Stand, Divided We Fall
Jackson, Mississippi- February 1, 2011- The Capital City is diagnosed with what some are calling an incurables disease known as crime. However, many young residents believe a change will come in our community with refillable prescriptions of attention and effort. The symptoms are appearing in our teenagers and young adults at a rapid rate, which has caused many to adopt a nonchalant attitude and a negative appearance towards their educational, personal and social life. This disease has caused our community to be against all odds in Jackson, Mississippi and the State of Mississippi. The 'Stop the Violence' Rally is a peace rally being held in the wake of all crimes in the Capital City and to bring attention to this curable disease. The purpose of the rally is to provide doses of strength, healing and education to the community. This will cause togetherness as we bring people into one setting to converse, enjoy music and hear various speakers. The goal is to to allow families, friends and leaders to discuss their feelings about the crime and how it has affected their families. We understand the problem will not change overnight, but the Stop the Violence Rally is step one to finding a cure for the increasing disease called crime.
The organizer of the event, Pam Greer, believes this event will bring the well-needed and deserved action that will help residents move forward. The rally is scheduled for Saturday, February 19th at Battlefield Park, located off Terry Road near Highway 80 in Jackson, MS, starting at 1pm-until. There will be food, a free hip hop concert, spoken word, and more. This event is strongly supported by S.H.E. Charity, Ms. BUJii & Mista Maine of Da Maine Event, PHINC, Kioni Indie, Star Quality Entourage, The Association of Yoruba Descendants of Jackson, Mississippi, Chi-town Entertainment, and Locker Room Lounge.
