If you from da south and You were chillin at your Grandma House and Aunt's,Uncle's, Cousins & Bar B Que & Drinking & Dancing was goin on, Maybe you can relate

Clarence Carter's "Strokin"

I am an 80's baby all the way, but i come from a long line of dj's and house/basement parties. To me there is no "old school" just good music and bad music. Think about the best music from the 70's 80's 90's is still being played like it just came out.and it still rocking parties. There is nothing like playin that hot up-to date music and then throwin in some of that "good shit" like da but or poison or even cameo's song candy . the people go crazy everytime. that's why i love my job! Lol.
WoW, now that''s a throw back look! lol. I miss those days, I watch VH1 soul late night on the eastcoast just to reminess about the old days and to keep me grounded.
70's, 80's is old school 90's and early 2000 is throwbacks.  I think there is a difference because the artist from the 90's are still producing great music and are performing with no real age barriers.

I know its a little corny but I strive to make that golden era sound. I was brought up on Run DMC, Beastie Boys, Fat Boys, Kurtis Blow-- heres my tribute!

I consider '70s & '80s music old school. I grew up during that era, so Kool Moe D & Grand Master Flash is what I remember. Before autotune was relevant (with the exception of Roger Troutman that I can recall at this time). I believe it was some of the best music. My absolute favorite was/is House Music!

To me, Old School is all the good music from the 70's through the 90's!  The 90's just got added in my world!  As far as R&B, we have many great artist, groups and duos to enjoy.  As far as Hip Hop, we have the Sugar Hill Gang, Run DMC, Slick Rick and Doug E Fresh, actually we have a lot of Hip Hop artist too!

I prefer the old school to most of the stuff out here today!

I started out as a DJ at WJMO in Cleveland, back in the 70's. And I guess it all depends on the style of music. I'm not sure you could apply the term "Old School" to music from then, as it is more a modern term related to Hip-Hop/Rap, which was coined back in the day (80's I believe). But being a DJ in the early 80's during the more or less explosion of the genre' (i.e. - Sugarhill, Salt & Pepper, Run DMC, Sir Mix-Alot, Big Daddy Kane, Kid N Play, and especially a lot of the indie artists. The list goes on. But using the term "Old School", could basically apply to songs before the present time. I usually like to go in 10 year spans.
