Streetz 94.5 FM and Metro PCS has partnered up with G.M.E. Sports Lounge also known as The Historical Donn Clendenon Supper Club to present the MLK Renaissance Festival; Saturday, May 25th, 2013 and Sunday, May 26th, 2013. It will be held in Atlanta’s Historic Martin Luther King Jr. Drive (From Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard to Paschal Ave). The MLK Renaissance Festival is a free event that will cater to the vase cultural concerns of the metro Atlanta area residents ranging from young children to senior citizens.

The MLK Jr. Renaissance Festival is designed to celebrate the history and heritage of the contributions made to civil rights and humanity by the West Side of Atlanta, and fully honor the vision of genuine community diversity and cultural collaboration heralded by Dr. King’s “Dream”.
The heart of the west corridor to downtown Atlanta is the historic intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard (formerly the legendary corner of Hunter and Ashby Streets), and is the home of the Festival. Hunter and Ashby Streets played host to prominent African American politicians, activists, athletes, and entertainers, all of which owned or patronized businesses on this strip. The recent revitalization of historic corridors inside the Atlanta beltline provides a wonderful opportunity for families throughout the metro area to be reintroduced to the unique cultural attractions and businesses in this corridor. It also provides a powerful setting to share and celebrate a diverse set of Atlanta’s cultural fabric through music, art, food, merchandise and special activities for all ages. The MLK Jr. Resurgence Commission at Historical West End Village is a collaboration of business owners, and community advocates working to improve the neighborhood and stimulate economic development and job creation in the area by leveraging the legacy of the community’s history and contributions to the city. The MLK Jr. Renaissance Festival will celebrate Atlanta’s cultural diversity while supporting community through providing a setting for information sharing on topics important to the community like financial literacy and healthcare. Neighborhood merchants will provide a taste of the historical area’s culture, and vendors, artists, musicians from throughout the city will create a cultural melting pot of food, fun and entertainment the whole family will enjoy. The festival is projected to create diverse attendance of 5,000 metro Atlanta visitors over the two-day event.
