1.Introduce yourself?

Greetings it is the one and only XIdaMC aka The California King aka Kareem Abdul JaBarzzz comin at ya live and direct what's good

2. Tell us how you got started & the inspiration behind it.

Well let's see I've been doing music for quite some time but it wasn't until about 2009 when I really got serious about recording and establishing myself as an artist so I got started just hitting open mic joints, droppin mixtapes, and collaborating with fellow artists that I respected, the inspiration behind everything was first the fact that I always loved music, second was that I couldn't stomach most of the music that was out at the time so I figured it was time for me to step up and make some noise and put my fingerprint on music.

3. Whats in your current playlist?

Haha aww man I'm old school so if you look through my playlist you'll find a lot of Sly and the Family Stone, Parliament Funkadelic, Curtis Mayfield, and James Brown things of that nature, that was the stuff I grew up on and it inspired me then and it still works to this day! 60's and 70's had the best music, 80's and 90's had some of my favorite music, but it's not too often you catch me rocking to anything that came out past 2003.

4. What advice do you have for other hustlers like yourself?

The best advice I could give is believe in your product, don't put your stamp on or push anything you don't fuck with yourself and when it comes to being an artist you are the product so whatever you put your hands on it you have to make sure that it's 100% or you gotta move on to the next one, and make sure you're always in a position to have the last say so of what you put out cuz that eliminates the blame game, but most of all have faith in The Almighty then match that faith with your grind hey the sky is the limit!

5. What can we expect from you the rest of this year going into 2018?

Work work and more work, the whole Crown Republik team has been busy me and big bro Ran Blacc just recently dropped The Prelude and we been putting in major work in the studio cooking up The Brotherhood Project I can't wait to drop that joint also been cooking up my next solo project as well which both will be dropping in 2018 you can also expect more visuals, video's, interviews and documentaries thanks to our new partnership with 24K photography, so just keep your eyes and ears open cuz we turning 2018 all the way up

6. Where do you see yourself in 3-5 years?

Wow good question in the next 3 to 5 years I'll definitely gain more wisdom, I'll definitely be sharper with my craft and more potent with my message, professionally I see myself in front of a much bigger audience in that time enough people will know I got skills and love me to where I'm able to tour the world once or twice and beginning to cement myself as a great artist with a great body of work

7. Name 5 Artists That Inspired You Growing Up.

Let's see there's so many of em but off the to of my head I'll say definitely Micheal Jackson everything he did was huge he'd come out with a video but it was more like a movie event and the way people would lose they mind when he performed made want that same reaction, musically Prince was just in another world to me, as a kid I would be absolutely blown away by his musical arrangements and lyrics, the man said "If GOD one day struck me blind your beauty I'd still see" come on man,I know the first time I saw LL Cool J's I'm Bad video right then and there I wanted to be an MC, I'll say Chuck D and 2Pac inspired me to be an MC with substance

8. Your Top 5 Movies To Watch On The Road.

I'm not too much of a movie guy especially on the road I'm all music I'm either jamming one of my playlists or going over new beats and ideas for songs, plus I'm more into the television shows on dvd, give me all 5 seasons of Martin and I'm good to go lol, but if I had to pick five movies for the road I'm have to go with Godfather, Casino, Scarface, The Last Dragon and The Five Heartbeats

9. Give Us 5 Artists Dead Or Alive You Would Enjoy Collaborating With.

Top five dead or alive you know what I'll leave the dead to Rest In Peace and just go with alive so hmmm wow once again it's so many but off the top I would love to collaborate with Kool Herc somehow, I would love to do some epic shit like bring Quincy Jones out of retirement to produce something, I would love to do a track with Scarface, of course I would love to work with Stevie Wonder cuz I don't think he's ever collaborated with a Hip Hop Artist, and real talk I think me and Kendrick could do some epic shit

10. 5 States You Would Love To Tour.

Definitely New York, Florida fa sho, I love Texas, Hawaii fa sho, and Michigan

11. For Fun, Give Us 5 Celebrity Crushes.

Whoa I'm a married man you tryna get a brother killed (laughs out loud) nah nah nah just for fun let me see here Nia Long is still bad as she wanna be, Sanaa Lathan to me always been bad, Gabrielle Union is just gorgeous ummm I always thought Regina Hall was banging and Ms Erykah Badu has always had me if I ever got with her I'd probably change my last name to Badu (laughs out loud)
