*****NEWS FLASH : DJ LIL JOHN PARTS FROM WGCI AFTER 7 1/2 YEARS*****

ON TUESDAY, JAN 20TH - DURING OUR NEW PRESIDENT'S INAUGURATION DAY FESTIVITIES - CLEAR CHANNEL RELEASED OVER 1,800 EMPLOYEES FROM THEIR VARIOUS STATIONS NATIONWIDE, IN AN EFFORT TO TRIM $400 MILLION FROM THEIR BUDGET DEFICIT!!! UNFORTUNATELY, I WAS ONE OF THE 1,800...

BUT I HAD A NICE RUN: STARTED IN MAY 2001, WITH ONLY ONE HOUR A WEEK (1AM-2AM) ON SAT. NIGHT MIXSHOW. THE FOLLOWING YEAR, I GAINED TWO MORE WEEKEND SLOTS. BY AUGUST 2003, I WAS PROMOTED TO MIXSHOW COORDINATOR AND HELD MY SLOT UNTIL THE END.

DURING THESE 7 1/2 YEARS, I LEARNED ALL THAT I COULD: FROM BOARD OP TO PRODUCTION, FROM NEX-GEN TO SELECTOR, FROM MEDIABASE TO CALLOUT... I EVEN SAT IN THE MUSIC DIRECTOR'S CHAIR FOR A FEW MONTHS WHEN THE WHOLE PROGRAM DEPT. GOT A "FACE-LIFT"...

HOWEVER, AS THE ONLY "SALARIED" MIXER (THE REST OF THE TEAM ARE "CONTRACTORS"), I WAS LET GO.

THAT JUST MEANS THAT THE MAN ABOVE CHOSE THIS TIME TO KICK ME OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE TO PREPARE ME FOR HIS NEXT MOVE!!! AND I AM DEFINITELY UP FOR THE CHALLENGE!! LIKE I TOLD SOME OF MY FORMER CO-WORKERS, "DON'T BE SAD FOR ME, NOTHING'S CHANGED. I JUST DON'T WORK HERE".

SO, HOLLA IF YOU NEED ME, MY CONTACTS HAVEN'T CHANGE EITHER: DJLILJOHN@GMAIL.COM.
AND BE CLEAR: I'LL BE BACK ON THE AIRWAVES BEFORE MOST OF YOU READ THIS :-)

Much respects to DJ LiL John who has been a mainstay in the Urban Music community in Chicago. He is well respected throughout the hiphop community and have always been a gentleman first and then a Disc Jockey during his tour at the radio station. He has always showed me much love when I have taken records to the station and heavily supports and play music from the local artists in major clubs. For those out side the Windy City you need to link up with this man because he is and will be back on the air maybe at a radio near you. Much respects for all the years of your service to the community LiL John. Manatee Records and staff as well as the hip hop community supports your future endeavours. Stay linked with us brother.
