The victim of a stabbing inside the Tier Nightclub's VIP section early Monday has died. Jerry P. Smith died after being rushed to Orlando Regional Medical Center following the 12:35 a.m. incident at the East Central Boulevard bar.
"He did it," Smith, 28, told a police officer while looking at Gavin G. Brown after he stumbled out of the nightclub and collapsed on the sidewalk, records state.
A knife was found on the floor of the VIP section where Smith and Brown, 35, had been seen fighting. Smith suffered at least one stab wound to the abdomen, a report said.
Brown was initially charged with aggravated battery with a weapon before Smith died. He now faces a pending murder charge.
Fans posted numerous condolences for Smith, a well-known DJ who went by Disco Jr., on Twitter.
The words "disco," "stabbed," "nightclub," the hashtag #ripdiscojr and Smith's Twitter handle were all trending in Orlando on Monday, according to TrendsMap, which tracks tweets by region.
"Orlando has been robbed of a talent," tweeted one mourner. Added another: "I always respected your work ethic and the way you rocked every crowd ... Orlando lost a good one, You will be remembered - R.I.P."
