The "Official" Biography of DJ Chief - The Chief Rocka

The Flash of the Badge (all music enforcement must be qualified)
Hip-Hop - R ‘n’ B – Reggae – Soul – Soca – Pop – Rock – House – Funk – Old School

The Police Academy (every Chief starts off as an Officer)
DJ Chief’s earliest training camp was with one of Canada’s most popular and successful urban soundcrews, The Baby Blue Soundcrew. Hailing from Toronto, ON, you could have only been unfamiliar with this dynamic group if you were.......um, Amish. (no disrespect to the Amish community). Chief’s ambition is as big as his love of music, so it came as no surprise that he would become the breakout success he is today. Definitively establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with, The Chief Rocka toured nationally and internationally, being asked to spin at parties hosted by top-level celebrities including Mary J. Blige and Jay-Z (before he became God). Throughout this ascension to greatness, he garnered a loyal following as a college radio DJ/personality on 105.5 CHRY Ryerson University, Toronto. Needless to say, Chief graduated from the Academy, top of his class.

The Day Shift (the desk job)
One thing that can be said about Chief is his longevity and relevance in the urban music scene. So it should come as no surprise that in back to back wins, Chief was the recipient of both the 2008 and 2009 Stylus DJ Award for Best College Radio Show “Worldwide Wake-Up Show with DJ Chief and Jester” (Every Thursday from 5:30am to 8:30am on CIUT 89.5 University of Toronto.) If one show isn’t enough, he can also be heard bringing you the best in Caribbean music on CIUT 89.5 FM (Toronto) on “Island Breeze” with exclusive interviews with local and international artists, one-of-a-kind mixes on new music (read as: chunes) and world premiers that have never been heard by anyone other than artist and producer until Chief brings it to you live and direct. And then just to put all the rookies in check, Chief runs the whole precinct by hosting a third show, the “Hot Pursuit Mix Show” on www.globe-radio.com each and every Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm. If you aren’t tuning in to one of these shows regularly, you are walking on the wrong side of the law!

The Night Shift (he doesn’t “walk the beat”, he runs it!)
DJ Chief takes his talent right to the streets by spinning at the hottest clubs in the city (and also in a city near you). Whether playing for 50 people or 5,000 people, Chief takes you on a musical journey that’ll have your head nodding, your fingers snapping, your feet moving (and your waistline wukking). A fixture in Toronto’s infamous “club” district, Chief was also the “official” DJ for the 2009 Stylus DJ Awards After-Party and has opened for performers such as these two living legends, Machel Montano and Big Daddy Kane. As a solo DJ, The Chief Rocka has been a part of countless successful events that include teaming up with some of Toronto’s “elite” urban DJ’s. Chief’s versatility in all genres of music, his ear for hits in the making, and his unique mixing ability are what set this DJ apart from the rest. Pretty soon, we may come to know him as “The Commissioner in Charge”.

DJ Chief is above the law when it comes to music. His talent is so exceeding, it should be illegal. And when I am at an event, and I know Chief is playing, it goes without saying, I am “handcuffed” to the dance floor.
