WHY GO GREEN!!!!!! PLEASE READ! EDUDUCATING OUR URBAN COMMUNITIES!!!!

People in the U.S. throw away 2.5 million plastic bottles an hour only 23% on average recycle two-thirds end up in land fields; Making new plastic requires significant amounts of fossil fuels; Plastic is easy to recycle - although few people do it, Plastic bottles take up space in landfills; Incinerating plastic contributes to greenhouse gases; Plastic in the oceans is responsible for the deaths of millions of sea animals; Plastic takes a long time to degrade; Plastics contain harmful chemicals; Recycling plastic saves energy; Recycled plastic is useful.

Find out what kind of program your community has for recycling plastics. Many areas do not recycle all kinds of plastic. On the bottom of the bottle there should be a number in a triangle. This is a 'Process Number'. Ask your local Council whether they have facilities in place to recycle plastic of that particular number. They will normally recycle plastic milk bottles. Follow your community’s instructions on what to do with your plastic bottles. Most often there is a special curbside collection for recycling, but otherwise take them to your local Bottle-Bank.

The bottom line why we should recycle plastic is this: recycling plastic is a good idea. It’s good for the environment, good for energy savings, good for the health of wildlife and humans alike. So next time you buy a bottle of soda or water, don’t just throw it in the trash. Recycle it—and do one small thing for the environment. If you do this every time you buy a bottled drink, your small contributions will definitely add up to a big difference.
