"Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nothing to F- With, Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nothing to F- With". Unless you've been without a radio, CD player, living on Mars, or just a hater of flawless authentic rap music, it would be incredibly difficult to not have listened to or heard about the legendary Hip-Hop group the Wu-Tang Clan. With more than 200 million records sold collectively worldwide, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, GZA, U-God, Masta Killa, Inspectah Deck, RZA, and the late, great Ol' Dirty Bastard ushered in a level of grimy lyrical greatness that forever changed the landscape of both Hip-Hop and music the world over.
Now nearly two decades after their groundbreaking first album "Enter The 36 Chambers", set the standard for true MC's, John "Mook" Gibbons, founder and CEO of Wu-Tang Management, is at it again with his latest venture, The Next Nine Generals. As one of the key masterminds behind arguably Hip-Hop's greatest global brand, The Wu-Tang Clan, Mook is set to make history for a second time by launching a star search like never before. To find not the next Wu-Tang Clan, but to the contrary the next nine super MC's to build upon the already illustrious legacy of the original nine, is the mission of Mook, radio personality Steph Lova, Loud Records' CEO Steve Rifkind and original Wu-Tang General U-God. Additionally, an influential DJ of note in each designated city will be added to assist the judges in selecting MC hopefuls.
Aiming to restore the true essence of Hip-Hop is the labor of love for Mook whose goal is to take the culture back to the days when MCs battled with lyrics instead of violence and used their God-given talents over relying on "studio magic". Understanding the only way Hip-Hop can continue to thrive as the "it" music of choice for generation next is for the genre to be lead by MCs who possess the same caliber of lyrical brilliance and diversity as the famed Wu-Tang Clan served as Mook's inspiration for bringing about this historical competition. As one of the most prominent figures in Hip-Hop's ever-growing multi-billion dollar industry, Mook has fought relentlessly with countless major record label executives to sign rappers that possess genuine talent and showmanship over those lacking real MC skills but have a well-crafted gimmick. Towering as a pillar of righteousness in his steadfast conviction to preserve the sanctity of Hip-Hop's legacy is the badge of honor so proudly worn by John "Mook" Gibbons, and is what makes this competition a dream come true for rappers with a real message to get out. Refusing to play by conventional rules has and always will be Mook's way of doing business. Most evident in his decision to award not one, but nine winners who will be afforded the rare opportunity to both record a major distributed album and tour with the iconic Wu-Tang Clan, proving without a shadow of a doubt that "Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nothing To F- With."
So calling all male, female, black, white, Latino, Asian, and Native American MCs. No matter your age or where you're from, whether the East Coast, West Coast, Midwest or Dirty South, if you have or believe you have the skills to be the next great rapper, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to become a member of Hip-Hop's royal family. Be on the look out, this competition is coming to a city near you.
