*CHECK OUT* ~ARTIST ON THE RAISE ~@Ads_Antalik+VIDEO

IMG_2534

Ads Antalik has been asked a few questions reguarding the music industry & the state of hip hop in Pittsburgh where this man is from. He is a artist that credits other artists such 90s hip hop artist (Pete Rock, Big L, early Jay-Z and others) for his musical influence.

When asked about the music scene in Pittsburgh he stated.

- I feel like the music industry in Pittsburgh is moving forward, I'm not sure how rapidly as of right now, but I do think good things are being done especially in the Hip - Hop genre. We always have great LIVE music in or around the city. There's so much talent. We are blessed with alot of creative people who help push the culture in a positive way as well. I'm hoping to help Pittsburgh continue to raise the bar for one and other, like I feel that we are right now, so that we can catch up wit the curve & eventually stay ahead of it. I feel like this city could be a whole new wave in the music industry, eventually. In the grander scheme, Pittsburgh going to be straight. Thats what it is.

- There's so many artists I really like but I'm not gonna name anyone because I don't wanna accidentally leave anyone out. Most of them are my homies and I just don't wanna deal with that headache. They know though.

He was also asked are there any artist would he love to work with.

- Theres alot of incredibly successful artists I would love to work with. I know what people mean by saying "Main Stream" but I'm just not a fan of the term. I dont like to box anybody's music in to a certain term such as "Main Stream" or this or that. I've been a fan of J. Cole for years now... & Schoolboy Q is one of my favorites as well. Schoolboy Q actually gave me life recently, I swear. I love OXYMORON. Thats Hip Hop, I need that Hip Hop. I need that.

- Couldn't be more grateful for the music scene here in Pittsburgh. I've met some really incredible people, learned alot of great things. Always learning. Always looking for opportunities to learn. Always looking to perform and have a good time. Although I really dont want to be to distracted by anything ither thn what I'm supposed to be doing. Only places I really wanna be are at a venue performing or in the studio. I need my conscious to be clear. Finishing school is really important to me as well. It just is... I already chose this path with the whole school thing too so why not, ya know? Just gotta stay focused is all.

- As of right now, I feel like my music is more substantial than most. I dont just go in the studio and write just anything that pops up on my mind most of the time. I try to put my whole heart and soul into my shit. Especially on my newer unreleased shit. Sometimes it'll happen real quick, spur of the moment type thing. Other times I'll spend days, maybe even weeks on my verses, makin sure that it sound cool & im getting my thoughts structured properly. I feel like within the next few years I'm going to make a change in the way people experience hip hop. Although lately I've been pretty quiet, I feel like the possibilities for me are endless right now. - Big L & Big Pun definitley some of my biggest influences on rap. I have so many influences in rap, those are just a couple I'm really feelin as of right now though. I loved both of thier demeanors in completely different ways. Lao Tzu is cool to me lately, too.... just from an influential life standpoint... Outside of music. I been readin up on him. Haha. - It would be incredible to work with Pete Rock.

Ads Antalik is with the group Rare Nation.

So I asked them what is Rare Nation about?

- R.A.R.E. is an acronym for Revitalizing Art, Re-Inventing Emotion. It was a movement started up by Palermo Stone, I'd say about 6 months before I became a part of it in July of 2012. Basically, Palermo & I decided to collab on a couple tracks together so I had walked to his house up on Mt. Washington one day after missing the bus... after we recorded the joints, we just started vibing out in the studio together all the time & eventually he asked me to be a part of R.A.R.E.

- Theres nothing better than growing up in Pittsburgh. I love the culture. I love the people too, we're all just pricks out here. Alot of people in my family are very musically gifted. Two of my uncles were in bands and my sister is actually an incredible singer, she has a hearing deficiency though. I've always been around music. All genres. I was a wild man as a young bull. Always runnin around the house singing some kinda song... Or screaming it.

- So far most of my work has been done with Palermo Stone, JkJ, M.N.I. & AF Rome. I've also worked alot with Angelo Runco. That dude is a beast on the Production. My upcoming music is going to be mainly solo though. Its time for that. - Everything inspires me to write. Everything and anything can be turned into art. - "On & On" by Erykah Badu. The lyricism & feel just can't be explained. Everyone needs to listen to that. "No Woman No Cry" is the jam as well.... & "Alright" by D'Angelo. Jaheim got the love joints too.... Now I'm just rambling.

Do have any new or up coming projects under way?

- As far as what I got coming up, Im opening for Brother Ali pretty soon. I will also be dropping various singles soon throughout the next couple months. Everybody has to keep an eye out for those. The music is everything to me, there is no ulterior motive. Also, expect a full length debut tape in late 2014. Maybe early 2015.
