Van Hechter Is Still On The Charts with Love Elastic

"Love Elastic" by Van Hechter is up to Number Five on the All Genre/International Chart this week.

We caught up with Van Hechter recently. He was nice enough to answer a few questions.

What is your music background?

I was fortunate enough to have a mother who ADORED pop culture. She knew about soul, jazz, Motown, disco--- then she explained punk and new wave... Also I studied opera for like 2 minutes and then a punk band recruited me.

Who are your musical influences?

Giorgio Moroder, The Ink Spots, Bowie, Cameo, The Supremes, Hot Chocolate, Gershwin, The Sex Pistols, Depeche Mode, Martha and the Vandellas.

What are your long-term career goals?

To stay in music, through thick or thin, for as long as I can. Because NOTHING makes me happier than constructing a song...

What type of recording process do you use and who produced your music?

We own a studio, Eryck Wyseman and I. He's been my associate, good friend and producer for 5 years now. We work very organically. I come in after we've mapped out the track. We usually know exactly how we want to sound. But sometimes while recording vocals. I'll come up with on-the-spot ideas and we record those too.
