Everyone new from the first day he stepped on an NBA floor that he would one day capture the NBA’s MVP award. In only five years Lebron James becomes the second youngest player to ever win the NBA’s highest individual honor, after leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA’s best overall record.
When reviewing James’s resume, one begins to wonder how this is only his first MVP title. He averaged 28.4 point per game this season versus 30 points last season, and 27.3 the year before. That was also the same year he led the Cavaliers to their first NBA finals while averaging 6.7 rebounds and 6 assists per game. During that same run to the finals he finally pushed his team by Detroit in one of the most memorable playoff performances ever. He scored 49 points and 29 of Cleveland’s last 30 points including the teams last 25 points in double overtime game 5, after starting the series down 0-2.

Very reminiscent of MJ’s performance against the Suns in 93, when he took over in the 4th quarter. In the 04-05 season, he averaged 31.4 points per outing while averaging 7 boards, and almost 7 assist along the way. The difference between then and now is his team’s record. This year King James elevated the play of his team and has led them to the overall number one seed, a franchise team record of 66-16, and a 39-2 home record. He averaged 7.6 rebounds, 7.2 assist, and nearly 2 steals and blocks per game, to go along with his 28.4 points.

He also had a few career season highs with 613 total rebounds, 587 assists, and 93 blocks. That’s not all; he also hit a career high 8 3-pointers in a single game this year against the Bucks, and 6 offensive rebounds when the Cavs took on the Suns. There was no doubt that Lebron was destined to win the MVP, and half way through the season everyone knew he had it locked up, but his journey isn’t over yet. His quest continues in search of the NBA’s highest most prominent award, an NBA championship. So far, this year has been magical and the NBA title may not elude the reigning MVP title like it has in past seasons.
