I named this one Shambles ..

Self explanatory:

A got great feedback from the last email but people wanted me to elaborate on the "SITUATION" aspect ... since that's the NEW WORD now. "I got this SITUATION over here" ..

Ok ..

Remember ARISTA .. They had a structure of EVERYONE working for ONE common goal witch was BUILDING A BRAND ... ARISTA.

Whitney, Toni, Usher, ect ... NO bunch of watered-down "SITUATIONS"

The one SITUATION that came out of that was BAD BOY. NOW, THAT was a SITUATION!! Cash Money@ Universal, No Limit @ Priority, Death Row @ Interscope .. THOSE where SITUATIONS!!

Greatness at its best! No one man shows ... Everyone STILL working to make the parent SITUATION work so the NEW SITUATION can prosper

Let me ask u a question .. When do we go back to a DJ being a fuckin DJ .. A&R being an A&R, a STREET TEAM being what it was . STREET TEAM (meaning INTERNET SAVY now) ...

We are ALL over the place. Who at the label is content with branding the LABEL? We have labels that are KNOWN for what they do & are NOT PRODUCING at all because EVERYONE has their OWN AGENDA.

POP labels & employees still get it.

They stay in their LANES, work in their cubicles, leave the HOLLYWOOD SHADES OFF, not trying to be the gotdamn artist too & and do what they NEED to do to make the BUSINESS SUCCESSFUL.

A lot of these cats don't go NO WHERE but

again ...

"HOW can you have a SITUATION in a SITUATION that's NOT SITUATED?

If the SKELETON/STRUCTURE of the building is in SHAMBLES, how will your OWN SITUATION work ...

Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding ... it WON'T.

Don't just "get by" at the job .. Do the JOB!! Its still a few that do they job with what they have to work with ...GOD Bless You.

So many that KISS ASS enough to "Get BY" so they can introduce ANOTHER situation .. Wow.

How can you be a LEGEND with ONE single .. 2 LP's .. & a bunch of GOSSIP behind u?

Urban artists, be AWARE that YOU can not live the ROCK STAR LIFE that POP/ROCK artists live .. I don't give a fuck HOW tight your jeans are.

Once u do some DUMB shit & the Microscope is on you, that's it .. They are ALWAYS waiting for the next semi-dumb move. It doesn't even have to be serious, as long a they catch u doing it ... Welcome to TMZ

Some of u niggas thing that "that's sexy" for you to be on TMZ with the BUFFUNERY, but it doesn't work that way for US, niggas.

No bouncing back from drugs like they do. No bouncing back from rape, fighting your mates, dealing with minors like they do. YOU are NOW a spectacle, a sideshow, the industry clown, the dumbass that's newsworthy of the bullshit & not your talents ...

Flavor Flav single handedly fuck up the WHOLE LEGACY of PUBLIC ENEMY (known for empowering or people & other minorities) ... Now this clown future models & ex strippers sayin they "love this nigga" & getting outta caskets with gold grills???? Chuck D gotta be rolling over in his GRAVE & he ain't even in it yet (SMMH).

YO!!!!!!!!!! What the fuck are we DOING???

We don't even hold up our LEGENDS... MJ, Luther, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Eartha Kitt .. WE GOT REAL LIVE LEGENDS that were JUST AND BIGGER than ELVIS but noooooooooooo ... That nigga had a BUNCH of issues but the STILL HONOR him faithfully since 1978!!!

OURS .... they just pass on .. No day for them, no nothing .. But they even got YOU standing up for Elvis & John Lennon .... Wow. Even got u niggas ridin" for QUEEN!! Ain't that a bitch!!

Oh yeah ... THEN we HELP them tear down OUR artists ..

Chris Brown is DEFINATELY not the only damn artist that had a altercation with his mate but they LET YOU tear them down ... Notice, white audiences just waited for the outcome ... We did all the fuckin talking, gossiping & bashing for them & then won't even let him clear his name ..

Shambles ...

I know some people are probably thinkin', "damn, ya'll still commenting on this?!!!" Yep!! We are. This, I think, is probably one of the single most important issues facing Hip Hop today. All of these so called "Power 30" cats (SEE THE RECENT SOURCE) need to remember the philosophies that got them where are now. Ya'll got plenty of money now, damn you can't take it with you, time to get back to business. They need to reiterate those Hip Hop values before the next generation kills Hip Hop. I won't get in to it too much, but pay attention to the new "classifications" that are coming out. Back packer, hipster, emo rap!!! Emo rap? What the hell is Emo rap? Now understand "emo" is short for emotional or emotion. Should every lyric an MC write have some sort of emotion behind it? Stupid. The more people take it and start to break the rules of the game, the block, or whatever you want to call it, the more the Hip Hop culture fades away. Just like my man said about how accessible rap has become the entire culture has become to accessible. Keep your third eye open and a bottle of Visine on deck. Mess around and it will all be gone.

That is dead on, I appreciate the way you discussed the old labels situations compared to todays. I would say in my opinion that on of the major problems is now that everyone can buy a microphone computer and record music they all feel they are the best and wont listen to constructive critism or if they have a myspace page with alot of friends and do some local shows they feel like they have made it. I have a motto with 1 hundred ent that when you make your music do you believe this record can compete with Jays, Nas, Nelly, 50's or Lil Waynes new song cause if you don't think so then go back and make it better. "Do you mind if i send this to my network I think they will really be interested in this info"

I'm in total agreement brother. Part of the problem is the respect level. Are community lacks it. Name me a community outside of ours that puts artist in the old school category? You can't name another race that does that and you wonder why a Flavor Flav is reduced to being a buffoon just to get paid. Public Enemy right now couldn't get an album played on prime time radio right now because of our peoples lack of respect. It's up to the real DJ's with real ears to step up and play the music that's going to move our people. How do you have rival radio stations when they play the exact play list? I grew up in an era where if Red Alert is playing Boogie Down Productions, Marly Marl would be playing something totally different. I turn on the radio and sometimes can't tell what station I'm listening too because everybodies playing the same crap. Tony keep up the good work and keep the information going.

Hey my fellow DJ's...while we're in Vegas we're going to be approached with a lot of BS records, mostly from big name artists. Please tell them the truth when they ask you what you think. They listen to us. Remember your POWER. Remember the legend of that ONE GUY that assaulted that ONE DJ from that ONE CAMP? Remember what happened. I ain't seen no real momentum from him since then. Have you?
Comment by Dickie Man on August 17, 2009 at 11:12pm
Real talk TN! Bottom line is we need more leaders with a VISION and less FOLLOWERS... Not only that but we you gotta WANT to see somebody else prosper & succeed. A selfless spirit is hard to find nowaedays. I got faith well get it together but we gotta start saying "WE" instead of "I" all the dam time.

Well fuckin said... And absolutely true. It's 2009... Every nigga that can recite "The Cat in the Hat" is now a rapper. Every nigga with a copy of Frooty Loops is now a Producer. If ur homeboy/cuzzin/uncle/whatever somehow slides his way into a record company and gets a position, u are now the head of A&R. Every clown that gets on TV, whether it's good or bad is now a celebrity. God used to make singers... Now Auto-Tune does... And we ask why people don't buy records...LOL! Somebody answer this... What makes the DJ the coolest nigga in the club? His mix or his mixtape? I remember the days of "Send the DJ a drink cuz he is cutting this bitch clean up!" Does anybody else? It is what it is... The DJ is and prolly always will be the key to new music. It takes a big effort from all of us govern what that new music is... This is a business. U ain't really gonna stop a nigga from playing what is considered "HOT" whether its garbage or not... but we all can come together and take a stand on not allowing garbage to get hot... If we continue to allow that it'll just be a bunch of hot garbage...

That shit stinks.
