Natina Reed was buried Saturday (Nov. 3), and her ex, Kuruptcovered funeral expenses, reports TMZ.
The 32-year-old was laid to rest just over one week after she was fatally struck on a Georgia highway.
Services for Reed were held at the Abundant Life Church in Lithonia, Ga., and many big names were attendance. Among those on the guest list included Snoop Dogg, Big Boi, Chilli and T-Boz from TLC, as well as Reed's group members.
Tren, the 10-year-old son that Reed shared with Kurupt, will remain in the custody of his father, where he has been for the last four years. The West Coast rapper does however want his son to maintain a relationship with his mother's family.
Since her passing, Georgia police have asked the public for any information to help solve the incident, but Reed's parents have accused authorities of dragging their feet. "The family is trying to heal but they can't initiate this process until they know what happened to their daughter," Christopher Chestnut, the lawyer of Reed's mother, Tamara Goodrich, told The Grio.
The family held a press conference in Atlanta last week, announcing that the police have been slow to produce a preliminary report, information about the driver who struck Reed, the exact time and location of the accident, as well as her personal belongings.
"The police department has been so evasive in answering even basic questions we will conduct our own independent inquiry to get answers for the family," Chestnut said.
In spite of not getting enough information form the Gwinnett County Police Department, the family believes that Reed was talking on the phone at the time of the accident. "She was walking across the street on the phone, and the next thing she's on the floor,” her father, Paul Reed, explained.
In addition to a funeral, which was open to the public, Reed's family also held a public memorial one day earlier.
As the rapping member of Blaque, Reed's career included acting by way of the cheerleader film Bring It On, and the television show VIP.
The driver that hit Reed will not face criminal charges.
