Over the past 20 years, Tim Westwood has been one the most influential figures in bringing American hip-hop to the UK public. In a surprising change to BBC Radio’s schedule, the 55-year old DJ will no longer be a part of Radio 1 and 1Xtra from now onwards, with his slot being filled by the familiar name of Charlie Sloth. Tim has been known to have interviews with many major artists in his time on the station, sparking features from the likes of 50 Cent, Kanye West, Eminem, Nas, Kendrick Lamar and many of the genre’s most notable people, continuing to push the bar and extend the exposure and talent as much as possible.
