Last week we lost another great man in sports. Not only was he a great man in sports but he also was great man. Wayman Tisdale was yet another great talent out of one of America’s most slept on places, Oklahoma, Tulsa to be exact.
He put the University of Oklahoma on the map in the world of college basketball, before going to the NBA where he played for 12 seasons. While attending OU Tisdale was named to the all conference team his freshman, sophomore, and junior year. He was also the first player voted to the first-team All American Team his freshman, sophomore, and junior year.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Tisdale while I was working in radio in Oklahoma City. He came by the radio station to promote one of his latest jazz albums, and was one of the coolest brothers I ever had the pleasure to meet. He was passionate about his music, and because of his church upbringing he was passionate about treating people with kindness and respect.
God bless you Wayman and may God bless your family.
