Well as far as pop & R&B music goes it was 1980 thru 85 the Fresh Fest era then New School Golden age Real Hip Hop 86 thru 94.I miss the deejay mixin it up live on the air that's what i miss about radio we don't hear a lot of that anymore.

I'm reading this sorta late, but, Wooo! Oldschool, hmmm. For me I'd say oldschool actually began with the disco era, and ended when the new jack era started.

This is a Topic that will be debated over time, To me Old School is High School years so for me it's the 80's
When break dancing started to get recognized, when every track you heard was original no one sampled from each other back then, well not like they do now days. To me the 80's was when music was at it's best musicians didn't not have computers to rely on to make music.

I was a teen in the eighties, and I was in my twenties in the 90's, so Old School is definitely NIce and Smooth and Dj Teddy Ted.
