To me, Old School is all the good music from the 70's through the 90's!  The 90's just got added in my world!  As far as R&B, we have many great artist, groups and duos to enjoy.  As far as Hip Hop, we have the Sugar Hill Gang, Run DMC, Slick Rick and Doug E Fresh, actually we have a lot of Hip Hop artist too!

 

I prefer the old school to most of the stuff out here today!

I started out as a DJ at WJMO in Cleveland, back in the 70's. And I guess it all depends on the style of music. I'm not sure you could apply the term "Old School" to music from then, as it is more a modern term related to Hip-Hop/Rap, which was coined back in the day (80's I believe). But being a DJ in the early 80's during the more or less explosion of the genre' (i.e. - Sugarhill, Salt & Pepper, Run DMC, Sir Mix-Alot, Big Daddy Kane, Kid N Play, and especially a lot of the indie artists. The list goes on. But using the term "Old School", could basically apply to songs before the present time. I usually like to go in 10 year spans.
