And I see you are from up north like me ...no wonder...not suprised !
Groups like KMD Poor Rightgeous Teachers and Tragedy the Intelligent Hoodlum Lakim Shabazz and Queen Latifah were all muslims. At the time anything else would of been uncivilized. I never fully converted to Islam but it has added to and improved my life greatly. I found a role model in Malcolm X, a messenger in Elijah Muhammed, and today we have Farrakhan. Peace to the Father Clarence 13X and Noble Drew Ali.

Not coincendentally, Islam-Influenced rap (EX: 'Arab Money by Busta Rhymes & 'Bombs Over Bagdhad by Outkast) are putting music albums in the billions department when it comes to sales.
From Wu-Tang Clan--to Kanye West & Public Enemy, many African-American rappers are embracing (and have embraced) Islam and offer it to mainstream 'urban' (hood) audiences as an alternative to gansta rap. Nowadays, even Young Jeezy is getting political--travel truly does broaden the mind--for about 3 years ago he was on 'Trap Music'....
Spreading the word of Islam through music has also elevated the religion's "cool factor" (for religion is still 'man-made'; God is of the spirit); in the eyes of many young rap fans and aspiring music artist and musicians.
Much of religion's growing influence among rap artists can be attributed to The Nation Of Islam, a "controversial" branch in the U.S. dedicated to BLACK EMPOWERMENT. Other Muslim groups have found new converts in numerous celebrities in the last few decades, including rapper Ice Cube, sportscaster Ahmad Rashaad (Phylicia Rashaad of the Cosby Show husband) and boxer Mike Tyson.
*The right merchant is one who has the just average of faculties we call common sense; a man of a strong affinity for facts, who makes up his decision on what he has seen. He is thoroughly persuaded of the truths of arithmetic. There is always a reason, in the man, for his good or bad fortune in making money. Men talk as if there were some magic about this. He knows that all goes on the old road, pound for pound, cent for cent -- for every effect a perfect cause -- and that good luck is another name for tenacity of purpose.
