You hit the nail right on the head!!! The recession had a lot to do with it, and you can't blame them because the family has to eat. But we have to give the new generation a chance and hear them out, even though there's a lot of music I rather not hear.

i guess the matter is its money over music. some people lost that same feeling to when they just started playing music or rapping or wtv the case. back then people would buss there ass to get there demo played and such hustle on the street to be heard. now the world has moved n the internet has taken over so ppl have gotten very lazy. and yes so some parts djs follow way to much then they should follow themselfs. a dj is here to rock the crowd promote new music n to make the ppl let loose. WTV happen to that feeling of jus feeling the music

ok let's sum it up!!! CERTAIN dj's do NOT break records because they only FOLLOW! These are dj's with limited knowledge of music or how to break new music. THEN, there are other DJ'S that only break music when they're "taken care of!" and THEY KNOW WHO THEY ARE!!! And if you are supporting these DJ'S, you along with them are GUILTY! Now, the real situation on top of all that is this: The labels control radio, which now has told lots of mixshow dj's to use songs only on their playlist!!! These songs have been "promoted" to the station via the labels, thru indi promoters, to the pds & mds, down to the mixshow dj's. DJ's that DON'T follow suit are either fired or re-assigned to play old school mixes, and there's a playlist of old school songs at that!!!

Listen to radio stations in markets competing against each other. The same songs play almost at the same time, on both urban and pop stations!!! Now that BDS has changed the way songs are added to stations,SOME DJ's are told to play ONLY what the station approves.

So, to DIDDY, the labels,the corporations that own the stations, any ANYONE ELSE that thinks it's ok to disrespect DJ'S....there's where the REAL fault or blame lies. Diddy, along with ANY artists/labels, etc. should FIRST look for DJ's that have SOME freedom to play what they wish, of course within the station's boundaries so they DON'T get fired. To lump ALL dj's in this is ignorant.

At the end of the day, a DJ can still and always will have the power to make or brake an artist or band, provided that DJ is a powerhouse like a lot of the Mainstream DJ's that are members of the "Core" family. You cannot take anything away from DJ's at all in my opinion, the equivalent to me is liken unto, disrespecting your chef; he's cooking the food you eat. Every entertainment exec needs D.J.'s to bring thier artist to the forefront. Without DJ's the industry would be worthless." On the otherhand, DJ's have become so arrogant, and thugs. A lot of DJ's fall in that catergory unfortunately. The facts are as follows: 1. Radio broadcasters NEED advertisers to make money. 2. Radio stations NEED to attract listners according to thier brand of broadcasting so they can get advertisers in order to make money. 3. DJ's need quality content in their aired programs 24-7. With that being said, we do need each other execs, radio, and artist. There really is no BIG "I's" and little "you's", we're in this game together.
